Titelverteidigung - zweite Deutsche Meisterschaft im Gravel
Yesterday I did it: I became German Gravel Bike Champion for the second time in a row! I'm delighted to take the title home again, especially after such a tough race here in Daun in the Eifel.
The course was really challenging with 115 kilometres and around 2700 metres of elevation gain. It was clear to me from the start that the race would not be a walk in the park.
There was a moment in the race when it looked like Rosa was going to win the coveted title. She was leading the race and had already built up a clear lead. I was able to catch up again in the last 20 kilometres. That was the moment when I knew that everything was still possible and that I could do it. The long sprint at the end was really exhausting, but I focussed firmly on my goal and was finally able to overtake Rosa by the narrowest of margins.
‘That was a real challenge today,’ I said at the finish, and that's exactly how I felt. It was a really hard-fought victory and I'm delighted to be the German Gravel Champion again.
The competition was strong: Rosa Klöser in second place and Janine Schneider, who secured third place, also put in great performances. This race showed once again how intense and exciting the sport of gravel biking is - and how much I love it.
